We will keep adding to this section as we go, but some of the most frequently asked questions are as follows. Please feel free to email us, or post in the forum if you have any questions not answered here!

What are all those squiggly characters underneath the dialogue text?

These represent the native language of the speaker (or often thinker) in the comic. As there are multiple languages in the world of Cheled, there will be different character sets to represent these. To put it simply, a character will always think and say names in their native tongue, as shown by what character set appears underneath their English text. Think of it as a visual accent.

If the main character whose point of view we are following (usually our protagonist Raamah) does not understand a word or language, there will be no English translation. Instead, it will be text purely in the language the speaker is using. As you read, try watching for the different texts to see who comes from a different nation!

What are the different kinds of mages?

There are five different elements that mages can be attuned to, with different sub-classes of each. As a general rule, the more powerful or potentially destructive a kind of mage, the more rare it is. The different types are arranged in (loosely) descending order from most to least frequently-seen.

Earth Mages:

  • Stone Mage
  • Plant Mage
  • Quake Mage

Water Mages:

  • River Mage
  • Tidal Mage
  • Tempest Mage

Air Mages:

  • Weather Mage
  • Wind Mage
  • Storm Mage

Fire Mages:

  • Flame Mage
  • Heat Mage
  • Solar Mage

Spirit Mages:

  • Illusionist
  • Animal Mage
